Audience of One

But hard it was.    After reaching out to several people to assist, with no success, I decided that I had had enough, and I was just going to do it myself.   So, in October last year I, not having any idea (and still don’t) what I was doing, launched this blog.

So why is the thought of Captivating Freedom so important to me?   If you have read all of my earlier blogs, you will know my story.   I lived a life that was pretty much captive.   I was locked behind the walls that I had built to keep me safe.  Or so I believed.   So, when this idea of Captivating came, it was a totally different idea.   I found myself learning more about the love that Father God had for me.    I have become increasingly aware that His love for me is not conditional on me being anything other than who I am.   He loves me warts and all.   The realization that someone loves you for you is captivating.   And it is freeing.   I found, as I broke down my wall one brick at a time, that I began to see things about me, that I liked.   That doesn’t mean necessarily that these things were recognized or noticed by other people, it was more of an internal discovery.

I learned about Jesus and how, for the whole of His life, all He did was love and accept people, no matter who they were or what they had done in their lives.   His love was and is unconditional.   I discovered this man, Jesus, loved people so much that He willingly submitted Himself to die an horrific death on a cross and among some of His final words were these “Forgive them Father, for they don’t know what they are doing.”   Jesus saw me and He saw you in those final moments and by giving way to death, even though He could easily have called on His Father to rescue Him, declared you and I are worth what He was to go through.

I am not captive any longer, I choose to love my Father God and I live a life full of gratitude for His love for me.   That is captivating.   Because this is my choice, I am not bound by anything other than the two commands Jesus gave.   Love Him and Love humanity.

Here is the freeing part – knowing that someone loves you, regardless of how you see yourself, enables you to be who you were always created to be.   You only have one person to answer to and one person to please and that is your Father in Heaven who loves you just the way you are.
