I was on tour in Canada and I got extremely ill. I wasn’t able to travel. A family from the church we had just been booked to perform in, offered to take me in and look after me. I was grateful, they were lovely people. I continued to tell lies but it was now a little tricky because I was in the one house all the time. The man of the house let’s call him John and I got on quite well, but the woman, we will call her Alice – she didn’t like me at all. Why?
Because she could see right through me and she knew I was lying and she began to challenge everything I said. Please do not misunderstand me here, she was a wonderful person who cared a lot for me, but she didn’t believe me and with good reason.
I was attending their church and I began to get close to a few people there. One was the Youth Pastor and she took me under her wing a bit. It’s funny but the more Alice challenged me the less I lied and the more comfortable I felt. We still argued a lot but I loved it there and I wanted to stay. I was still very ill. I was able to renew my visa 3 times but when I went to apply for a fourth visa extension, they said I had to go back to Australia and apply to come back.
I applied to Bible College and got accepted to commence the following year and so in February I hopped on a plane with Alice – who insisted on coming with me and I flew back to Australia.
Armed with my acceptance to Bible College I began working to earn money to be able to head back to Canada where I planned to study and live for the rest of my life. Little did I know that God had other plans for my life.
I met a man…….
